Fresh Instructions, Fresh Anointing

TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, AND HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT. PROV 3:5-6

Would we rather lean on our own understanding, or God’s?

God wants to reveal Himself to us, He wants to reveal what He wants to do, and He wants to reveal what He wants us to teach on, to say, or to do, to bring HIM glory, not us.

When do we need Fresh Instructions and Fresh Anointing:

Every time we read the Bible

Every time we meet with God

Every time we ask Him to speak to us

Every time we pray for someone

Every time we teach or preach

Every time we worship

Every time we prophecy

Every time we run into conflict

Every time we start to doubt

Every time we make a decision

When we teach, preach, train, lead, minister, or prophecy to others, do we want to rely on past information or messages, or fresh? Do we want to rely on old mana or fresh? Do we want to minister in the flesh, or in the power and anointing of Holy Spirit?

Example praying for people w/o knowing what they wanted prayer for

WHAT DOES FRESH INSTRUCTIONS MEAN?

Finding out what God has to say today, now.

Trusting God, if He chooses to change what we previously had planned.

As pastors/teachers, leaders, are we willing to give up control of our service and allow HS to have His way? It may involve letting someone with a greater anointing than you to share something. Maybe they see, hear or heal at a higher level than you. Even if there is silence while we wait on HS.

Example: preaching in Africa w/no notes, Skyline worship for 2 weeks

God is not against planning ahead of time what we plan on speaking about.

God is not against the worship team planning ahead of what songs to sing.

What He is against, is not allowing Him to change things up at the last minute.

What He is against, is not welcoming Him to be a part of our service or teaching, because WE already made plans.

Remember it’s not about us, it’s all about Jesus.

WHAT DOES FRESH ANOINTING MEAN?

The anointing is the manifestation of God’s presence, His glory, and His power.

To be anointed is to be set apart, and empowered by God

Can you lose your anointing? Yes, King Saul was anointed, but do to jealousy towards David he lost it.

THOSE CONTROLLED BY THE FLESH CANNOT PLEASE GOD. ROM 8:8

WHAT DOES MINISTERING IN THE FLESH LOOK LIKE?

The flesh says:

I can do it

I can make this happen

I can teach a powerful message

I can lead others to Christ

I can grow a big church

I can work hard

If I don’t do it, it won’t get done

I’m the pastor, so I know best

Not willing to admit you don’t know everything

I, I, I, I, it’s all about what “I” can or cannot do

Fresh Instructions:

ALL THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE WE READ ABOUT GOD SPEAKING TO US.

Moses, Abraham, prophets, even unbelievers. He’s talking, but are we listening?

Jesus said:

I HAVE NOT SPOKEN ON MY OWN, BUT THE FATHER WHO SENT ME HAS COMMANDED ME WHAT TO SAY AND HOW TO SAY IT. AND I KNOW THAT HIS COMMAND (INSTRUCTIONS) LEADS TO ETERNAL LIFE. SO I SPEAK EXACTLY WHAT THE FATHER HAS TOLD ME TO SAY.” JOHN 14:49-50

When we speak only what has been given to us through Holy Spirit, and not from our fleshly works, it is drenched in anointing, power, and life.  This is when lives are changed, because our message is from God, and not ourselves.

If Jesus only relied on what His Father’s had to say, how much more should we?

King David was always getting Fresh Instructions during battle. Every time he inquired of the Lord regarding going into battle, God would give him very specific instructions about how to win the battle.

It’s not that lives can’t be changed when we give a good sermon put together in our flesh, but nowhere near if presented  with Holy Spirit’s anointing on it.

Even when we minister in the flesh, people may enjoy the message, and tell us what a great job we did, but if people just received our words instead of Holy Spirits, their ability to grow in Christ is hindered. There’s power and anointing when we speak what’s on God’s heart, so much more than what’s on our heart.

It’s Holy Spirit’s message that gives life to those we minister to, it’s Holy Spirit’s message that change lives, because it’s Him releasing a fresh anointing from God Himself.

Every single day, God wants to give us fresh Instructions from Him to us individually, unique, personal just for us. And learning to listen to Him, is how we get to know Him and His voice.

YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS COME UPON YOU; AND YOU SHALL BE MY WITNESSES BOTH IN JERUSALEM, AND IN ALL JUDEA AND SAMARIA, AND EVEN TO THE REMOTEST PART OF THE EARTH.”   ACTS 1:8

We need Holy Spirit for both Fresh Instructions and Fresh Anointing

His presence in us and on us, teaches us, and anoints us for His purposes.

We CAN choose to walk in the power of God’s anointing 24/7, by remaining IN HIM at all times. By walking in the spirit and not the flesh.

Do we want to minister in our flesh, or in the power and anointing of Holy Spirit?

Do we want to live in the flesh, or in the spirit?

IF WE LIVE BY THE SPIRIT, LET US WALK IN STEP WITH THE SPIRIT. LET US NOT BECOME BOASTFUL, CHALLENGING ONE ANOTHER, ENVYING ONE ANOTHER. GAL 5:25-26  - To do this we have to know

Holy Spirit personally.

How do we walk in step with the Spirit?

Example:  Children following their father in deep snow.

When walking in the flesh and not in the spirit, It’s easy to cross the line into pride: Attendance, Salvations, Applause

What are our motives in what we say and do?

They profess to KNOW GOD, but by their actions they deny Him. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed. Titus 1:16

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. John 1:0

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do KNOW HIM, for He abides with you and will be in you John 14:16&17

I want to KNOW CHRIST and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Phil 3:10&11

By this we can be sure that we have come to KNOW HIM: if we keep His commandments. 4 If anyone says, “I KNOW HIM,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:3&4

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may KNOW HIM who is true; and we are IN HIM who is true— in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
